The British GT Championship action resumes this weekend (30/31 August) and professional racing driver Tom Onslow-Cole is looking forward to returning to Brands GP, his favourite circuit on the calendar and the place that he and Strata21 team-mate Paul White first raced together in the Aston Martin V12 Vantage GT3.
The pair has raced together since August 2013 when Milltek Sport-sponsored Onslow-Cole made his GT debut on the Brands Hatch GP circuit. After qualifying on pole and finishing second, they joined forces for the 2014 season and have enjoyed podium success in the British GT Championship.
“I can’t believe we are going into the penultimate round of the British GT Championship,” commented Onslow-Cole. “It’s gone so quickly and I’ve enjoyed every second of it. But, I must admit, I’m glad we are going back to two-hour race format for this weekend – I much prefer the longer races.”
Since the last round of the British GT Championship at Spa-Francorchamps, where the 27-year old recorded the fastest race lap of the weekend, Onslow-Cole has contested the biggest race of his year, Spa 24 Hours, and, at the opposite end of the scale, a charity race with Radio Le Mans and close friend Duncan Tappy.
“I’m looking forward to British GT starting again. I’ve filled the summer break with some great and varied racing but it’s good to get back into the championship. This weekend the competition is really tough but I think the Aston Martin will be strong, it’s the one I’ve been looking forward to all year.”
The Brands Hatch GP round of the British GT Championship takes place on Sunday 31 August at 13:10. Tickets can be bought HERE. The race will be first aired on Sunday 7 September on Channel 4 at 07:00 and on Motors TV at 15:15 and is repeated regularly thereafter.
