NO SUMMER BREAK FOR BUSY OC

Tom Onslow-Cole barely had time to wash the Champagne from his racesuit before he re-packed and left for the Le Mans Cup at Paul Ricard via a red carpet appearance at a star-studded London film premiere and a GT Open test in Barcelona.

On Saturday, OC and his Milltek Sport team-mates took a class win in VLN5 and extended the team’s championship lead, before the 30-year old GT racer left the Green Hell and headed for the red carpet.

“Being a Rockstar Energy Drink Athlete comes with lots of perks, being invited to film premieres is definitely one of the better ones,” commented OC. “The film, Logan Lucky, was pretty decent, lots of laughs and a fun plot – I wouldn’t have minded a bit more NASCAR in it, though!”

After the screening was over, it was time for OC to fly to Barcelona, where his SPS automotive performance Mercedes AMG GT3 was waiting for him and his GT Open team-mate Valentin Pierburg at the Circuit de Cataluña.

“The SPS automotive performance Mercedes AMG GT3 is feeling insanely good,” he commented. “The team has worked so hard to get the set-up sharp and I love the track at Barcelona – I can’t wait to come and race here in a couple of months.”

With GT Open testing complete, OC is now at Paul Ricard in the South of France ready to compete in the fourth round of the Le Mans Cup with RAM Racing and team-mate Remon Vos (NL) in their Mercedes AMG GT3.

“At the last round of Le Mans Cup, we proved we have a package capable of running at the front,” he said. “We know that if we just run the same strategy again, we can get ourselves in a similar position at Paul Ricard and we can aim for the podium.”

After Le Mans Cup at Paul Ricard, OC will return to the UK but there’s no time off for the Casio Edifice brand ambassador as, next weekend, he races at his home track at Silverstone in GT Open.

“It’s pretty flat-out at the moment, but I’m not complaining,” commented OC. “I love these back-to-back events and my busy calendar, it’s a real privilege to have so much going on!”
