Tom Onslow-Cole has finally got his hands on the Milltek Sport Giulia Quadrifoglio and is en route to the Nürburgring where he will re-join the Toyota GT86 CS Cup championship leaders for the six-hour long VLN5.
Milltek Sport entered the nine-round VLN championship in the Toyota GT86 CS Cup and, after four events, is leading the class. OC, who missed the opening two rounds due to commitments as a BMW Motorsport works team driver, raced alongside Lucian Gavris and Dale Lomas in the GT86 in VLN3 and the trio returns for VLN5 with local legend Werner Gusenbauer.
“I got my A-permit at the end of last season and this year I’ve raced in all but one VLN race, plus Nürburgring 24 Hours and the qualifying race… it’s starting to feel like a second home,” commented OC, who has been a Milltek Sport-supported racing driver for nearly nine years.
Before leaving for the Nürburgring, newly married OC dropped-in to Milltek Sport’s HQ in Derby to collect the 2.9-litre V6 Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio that is fitted with a Milltek Sport non-resonated cat-back valved system with Jet 100mm carbon trims.
“I’ve not driven one of the new range of Alfa Romeos so I was really keen to try it out,” commented OC. “It’s always fun to drop-in at Milltek Sport and see what cool projects that have going on – leaving with a new car to test makes it even better!”
OC is now driving the Giulia from Derby in the North of England to the Nürburgring in Germany ready for Saturday’s qualifying session and six-hour race.
"Milltek Sport have supported me from my early days as a touring car driver so its great that we can still find time to race together,” said OC, who will travel to more than 20 race weekends this season. “The team are like family to me. Not only have we been together for years, we share a passion for performance and perfection and I hope I can help them to extend their lead over the championship this weekend.”
Qualifying for VLN5 takes place at 08.30 with the race starting at 12.00 and fans can watch the livestream at www.vln.de. They can also follow behind-the-scenes updates on Instagram and Facebook and can join in the conversation on Twitter using @tomonslowcole.
