Tom Onslow-Cole (GB) is in Spielberg in Austria for his thirteenth event of the season but the Rockstar Energy Drink Athlete isn’t worried about superstition and believes another podium is on the cards for himself and team-mate Remon Vos (NL) this weekend.
The Redbull Ring is the home of the third round of the Le Mans Cup and, after a race win in GT Open at Paul Ricard and a second place finish with Vos in the 12 Hours of Imola a fortnight ago, OC is feeling confident.
“This might be my thirteenth race weekend of the season but I think we’ve already had our bad luck in Le Mans Cup!” the Milltek Sport-supported racer said, referring to the opening round at Monza where a lap one incident for Vos ended their race.
“We showed in the Road to Le Mans what we are capable of and took two fourth place finishes in what is sure to be the toughest and most competitive round of the season,” he continued. “If we carry that form into this weekend, there’s no reason we can’t take a podium.”
The pair will once again compete in the RAM Racing-run Mercedes AMG GT3, which, following its success in Imola, returned to the team’s state-of-the-art facilities in Silverstone Park to be re-prepared before heading out to Austria earlier this week.
“With RAM Racing, I’m always confident we are turning up to an event with the best prepared car in the paddock,” said OC, who is a face of Casio Edifice for the eighth consecutive motorsport season. “Remon and I are well prepared, too - we tested here earlier in the year so we both know the track. We just have to take as much as we can from this weekend – with a good points haul we could find ourselves in the championship battle at the end of the season.”
The two-hour race at the Redbull Ring takes place at 16.00 CET on Saturday 22nd July and fans can watch the livestream on the Le Mans Cup website:
