Tom Onslow-Cole and his RAM Racing team-mates have won the inaugural 24 Hours of Paul Ricard this weekend (11/12 July) in the #30 Mercedes SLS AMG GT3.

With a second place finish recorded at each round of the 24H Series so far this year, OC and the team at RAM Racing had their sights firmly set on the overall race win. With a well-prepared car, considered strategy and customer support from AMG they arrived at the iconic Paul Ricard Circuit ready to hit the ground running.

Having qualified on pole with the Mercedes AMG machine, Tom and his co-drivers Thomas Jäger (DE), Adam Christodoulou (GB) and Paul White (GB) got a strong start to the race and, from the first lap, they became embroiled in a battle with the #7 Porsche 991 GT3.

It was a battle that continued until the final hour of the endurance epic with both teams leading at various stages and luck swinging for and against the Silverstone Park-based team.

However, when the chequered flag dropped at the end of the twice-around-the-clock race, it was Casio Edifice-backed driver and his #30 Mercedes SLS AMG GT3 that crossed the line first.

“The pressure was on from green light to chequered flag,” commented OC, who is also supported by Milltek Sport. “We responded well to Code 60s and all four drivers did a fantastic job to keep out of trouble and put in some of the fastest lap times of the race.

“Getting a 24-hour race win is a fantastic achievement and one that takes 100 per cent perfection from the entire team. RAM Racing always operates with the utmost professionalism and impresses me more every time I drive with them. I want to thank them for this fantastic result and I hope its the first of many victories for us as a team.”

OC next races with RAM Racing in Barcelona 24 Hours in September. His next 24 Hour race is Spa 24 Hours in a fortnight time with Leonard Motorsport AMR.
