OC AIMS FOR IMOLA PODIUM

Tom Onslow-Cole’s run of back-to-back race weekends continues on Friday as he heads into his twelfth event of the season, the 12 Hours of Imola, with RAM Racing and team-mate Remon Vos (NL).

With his BMW Nürburgring 24 Hours factory team duties complete for the season and his Le Mans Cup and GT Open campaigns well underway, OC will return to the 24H Series, which he won in 2015, to contest the inaugural 12 Hours of Imola in the #30 Mercedes AMG GT3.

The Casio Edifice brand ambassador, who will travel to more than 20 races this season, is feeling very confident that he and team-mate Vos can take home some silverware this weekend but knows that they have a challenge ahead of them as they contest the race as a duo.

“When we decided to do the race between the two of us, no one mentioned it could be 30 degrees centigrade!” laughed OC, who has just returned from racing with Milltek Sport at the Nürburgring. “But, it was hotter than that at Le Mans a fortnight ago and we were both fine so I reckon we can handle this. We’ll split the track time pretty much 50/50 – I think it works out just over five hours thirty minutes of drive time each.”

OC is no stranger to long-distance endurance racing. In fact, he has taken overall podiums in Dubai 24 Hours, Barcelona 24 Hours, 12 Hours of Mugello and 12 Hours of Zandvoort and has won 24 Hours of Paul Ricard and 24 Hours of Brno.

“We initially entered this to get Remon some extra seat time but, now I’ve seen what he’s capable of, I’m going into this hoping for our first podium!” commented the Rockstar Energy Drink Athlete. “We’ve had three fourth place finishes in Remon’s first four GT races and, with each one, the thirst for Champagne increases.”

The 12 Hours of Imola starts on Friday 30 June at 1500hrs and runs for four hours. After an overnight break, the race resumes at 1100hrs and runs until 1900hrs. The race is streamed at
www.24hseries.com and is covered by Radio Le Mans.
