The Milltek Sport-sponsored ace – who was last week invited by BMW Motorsport to drive its brand new 24 Hours of Le Mans-going M8 GTE – has never raced at the Portimao circuit but has tested the Aston Martin Vantage GT3 and GTE, and the Bentley Continental GT3 there, so feels confident he knows the track well.
“It’s a fantastic circuit but it’s not an easy one to learn, so the main aim will be getting Remon [Vos] out there as much as possible ahead of qualifying,” commented the Rockstar Energy Drink Athlete. “Luckily, I know the track well and he learns quickly so I’ll be able to support him in getting up to speed.”
After practice sessions on Friday afternoon and Saturday morning, Vos will qualify the car ahead of Sunday morning’s race. With a mix of GT3s and LMP3s on the track, which includes some difficult corners, Onslow-Cole is looking forward to the challenge of this multi-class event.
“There are some very quick sections and heavy braking areas that will really highlight the extremes in performance between the LMP3 and GT3 cars. Throw in some blind corners and for sure I’m expecting Portimao to provide some tricky traffic situations.” added Onslow-Cole, who represents the motorsport-inspired watch brand Casio Edifice.
“Remon has been a fantastic team-mate and I’ve really enjoyed our first season together. We’ve taken podiums together and I’d love nothing more than to end the year with him on a high,” concluded Onslow-Cole.
